Little Lemoine Lake
July 27 - August 4, 2007

We are trying a new lake this in Little Lemoine.  This lake is a Sat-Sat fly-in.  We drove up on the Thursday, expecting to spend 1 day at the lodge before we flew in.  Well that wasn't to be.  George asked us if we wanted to go in on Friday, and you don't have to ask us twice if we want to go in early.  So we finished dinner and went and packed for the Friday.

The flight was short and sweet, took about 10 mins to get there.  But what a beautiful Lake.  Not a big lake by any strech but still extremely nice.  Once we were dropped off we quickly unpacked and set to tending the rods.  For whatever reason, we spent a couple of hours sitting around the camp, doing up rods and just talking.  We finally headed out around 5ish to explore the new lake.

The weather all week was hot..so hot it was almost insane to fish from about Noon till about 5.  You could fry an egg on your arm if you wanted to.  Nights were the usual wam, and we had a camp fire everynight.  We did get 1 Thunder storm on the Tuesday in the morning, and it lasted an hour or two.  Other than that it was just hot, there were a couple of windy days, but it was still hot out.

Fishing was a little tough as this was a new lake to us, and the walleye were on a minnow bite.  We caught enough to keep us entertained.  We finally figured them out on the last night as we caught walleye after walleye jigging just off an island.  It seems the walleye were so stacked together, that on the fish finder they looked like bait fish, go figure.  As for the pike, they were a little easier, and caught our fair share.  Had a number of big pike follow our lures/jigs etc.  The neat thing about this lake was that it had a minnow lake where you could go and catch some minnows to use.  Also there was an outlying lake that you had to do 2 canoe trips to get to.  We didn't make the trip there, but if we go back we will definately give it a shot.

Cabin was great as usual.  Kept us cool and dry, want more do ya want? lol.

Flight home was quick and depressing as we were leaving for another year.  But as always, once we were out we grab the brochure to start planning for next year.

On the way home, we stopped in Gogama as the vagabond was closed. Found ourselves a new stopping spot.  A lovely little restaurant/bar, about 5 mins in Gogama.  Ruben is looking forward to seeing "Bucky" next year.

Tight Lines folks.
